Product detailed description
School motor glider kit with a span of 1400 mm made of almost indestructible extruded polyolefin foam (EPO) for AC motor drive. Controlled rudder, elevator, ailerons. The kit includes foam parts, small accessories and a folding propeller.
Although outwardly retaining the features of the original BETA 1400, the KAVAN-branded BETA 1400 is a completely new model with slightly different dimensions, a new airfoil, a new AC motor with folding propeller and a much more refined design. New molds and advances in foam molding technology ensure that all parts are much finer and more precise. The BETA 1400 - a durable school and training glider - is ideal for beginner pilots, who will take it from the initial touch of the landing area to basic aerobatic turns and thermal sailing. It will also please recreational weekend flyers, as it provides a compact and easily portable model for maximum comfortable flying.
Thanks to its concept with the engine located on the pylon behind the wing, it tolerates rough handling very well and can withstand even harsher "sniffing" with its nose into the mother's chest, which would at least lead to damage to the propeller in conventional models with an engine in the bow.
The fuselage with a pylon behind the wing ready for the installation of an AC motor with a rotary housing (we recommend KAVAN C2814-1400 "custom" for BETU 1400) is molded from EPO foam. The wire rods for controlling the rudder and elevator are already glued, and shafts corresponding to the dimensions of the KAVAN GO-09 servos are prepared for positioning the servos. The cabin cover is removable with a magnetic closure. The two-piece wing is also molded from EPO, the wings are controlled by 2 servos mounted in the wing with short straight wire rods, for which shafts matching the KAVAN GO-09 servos are already prepared. The wing halves are connected by a carbon tube joint and secured with a screw on the underside of the wing. The tail surfaces in the classic arrangement are molded from EPO and are controlled by wire ropes. Engine cooling is aided by the cooling air inlet in the leading edge of the pylon, cooling air flows through channels around the engine cover. Wings, rudder, elevator and engine speed are controlled.
You will need at least a four-channel RC set to control the model. In this case, both aileron servos are connected via a Y-cable to one channel. Follow the instruction manual of your RC kit when connecting the receiver. It is ideal if you have at least a five-channel computer RC kit that allows independent control of the aileron servos. In that case, you can set the difference of the aileron deflections; for a start we recommend 50% - t. j. downward deflection is half of upward deflection. To facilitate the landing, it is also advisable to mix the wings in the aerodynamic brake function so that they deflect upwards at the same time. You will appreciate this on smaller landing areas and especially when flying on a slope. When adjusting the aerobrakes, make sure that even when the ailerons are fully deflected up in the braking function, the ailerons can be fully deflected up in the aileron role.
An AC speed regulator should have a load capacity of at least 18 A - ideal is e.g. CAVAN R-20B.
To power the Beta 1400 model, you will need a three-cell 11.1 V LiPo battery with a capacity of 1600-2200 mAh (load capacity 20C).
The BETA 1400 is intended for beginners - as we always deliver - under the supervision of an experienced pilot, as well as for anyone who just wants to have a nice recreational flight. The flight characteristics are pleasant and not difficult. The model introduces you to full control of the model around all three axes; with proper coordinated control of the rudder, ailerons and elevator. This "as if you found it" experience is the last one you will get on your first flight with an aerobatic model or (semi)maquette of any kind. By changing the length ratio of the levers on the servos and rudders, you can adjust the size of the deflections over a large range. The beginner will start with small deviations, safe even with excessive "steering"; an experienced pilot will set it big, allowing for a bit of that basic "engine" acrobatics - somersaults, barrel twists, spins go quite well with the Beta! The engine power is sufficient for a very lively climb, yet the model is not overloaded, which could cause difficulties for novice pilots. BETA 1400 can use even not too strong thermals and can last "forever" in the sky.
Kit includes: EPO fuselage, EPO wing, EPO tail surfaces, carbon tubular wing joint, 7x6" folding propeller, bag with small accessories, 2 sheets of stickers (one for the red and one for the blue version) and detailed instructions for building and flying.
