Kavan RC Beta 1400 blue RTF
Code: KAVAN-KAV02.8084RTFProduct detailed description
Practically finished model of a school motor glider with a wingspan of 1400 mm made of almost indestructible extruded polyolefin foam (EPO) with an AC motor, 20A controller and 4 servos. Controlled rudder, elevator, wings. Complete 2.4GHz RC kit with eight-channel T8FB transmitter, receiver, 3S LiPo battery and charger.
Although outwardly retaining the features of the original BETA 1400, the KAVAN-branded BETA 1400 is a completely new model with slightly different dimensions, a new airfoil, a new AC motor with folding propeller and a much more refined design. New molds and advances in foam molding technology ensure that all parts are much finer and more precise. The BETA 1400 - a durable school and training glider - is ideal for beginner pilots, who will be guided from the initial touch of the landing area to basic aerobatic turns and thermal sailing. It will also please recreational weekend flyers, as it provides a compact and easily portable model for maximum comfortable flying.
The BETA 1400 is a school and training motor glider made of highly resistant extruded polyolefin EPO and powered by an AC motor. Thanks to its concept with the engine located on the pylon behind the wing, it tolerates rough handling very well and can withstand even harsher "sniffing" with its nose into the breastbone, which would at least lead to damage to the propeller in conventional models with an engine in the bow.
The fuselage with a mounted AC motor (with rotary housing, C2814-1400) located in a pylon behind the folding propeller wing, fitted with a KAVAN R-20B controller and GO-09 rudder and elevator servos is molded from EPO foam with longitudinal carbon stiffeners. The cockpit cover is removable using magnetic closures. The two piece wing is also cast in EPO, the wings are controlled by 2 GO-09 servos mounted in the wing using short straight wire rods. The wing halves are connected by a carbon tube joint and secured with a screw on the underside of the wing. The tail surfaces in the conventional arrangement are molded from EPO and are actuated by wire rods. Engine cooling is aided by the cooling air inlet in the leading edge of the pylon, cooling air flows through channels around the engine cover.
Preparation for flight includes only gluing the tail surfaces (with medium-second glue), fitting the wing halves, connecting the receiver and connecting the drive battery. Wings, rudder, elevator and engine speed are controlled.
The model is controlled by an eight-channel KAVAN/RadioLink T8FB BT 2.4 GHz FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum System) transmitter with cross-controls arranged in mode 1 (throttle right), trims and yaw sense switches for all channels. You can use this transmitter "straight out of the box" as a classic "non-computer" transmitter with trimmers and mechanical deflection sensing switches for the aileron, elevator, throttle and rudder channels. When connected to a computer or an Android or iOS smartphone app, you can then programmatically adjust deflection and sensor sizes, use dual deflections, exponential deflection and other nifty features. You will need 4 AA alkaline batteries (pencil) or accumulators (not part of the RC set) to power the transmitter.
The BETA 1400 comes with an 11.1 V 1600 mAh LiPo battery that fits a 7x6 folding propeller. The model can easily "carry" three cells with a capacity of approximately 2200 mAh.
The BETA 1400 is intended for beginners - as we always deliver - under the supervision of an experienced pilot, as well as for anyone who just wants to have a nice recreational flight. The flight characteristics are pleasant and not difficult. The model introduces you to full control of the model around all three axes; with proper coordinated control of the rudder, ailerons and elevator. This "as if you found it" experience is the last one you will get on your first flight with an aerobatic model or (semi)maquette of any kind. By changing the length ratio of the levers on the servos and rudders, you can adjust the size of the deflections over a large range. The beginner will start with small deviations, safe even with excessive "steering"; an experienced pilot will set it big, allowing for a bit of that basic "engine" acrobatics - somersaults, barrel twists, spins go quite well with the Beta! The engine power is sufficient for a very lively climb, yet the model is not overloaded, which could cause difficulties for novice pilots. BETA 1400 can use even not too strong thermals and can last "forever" in the sky.
