Product detailed description

Remote control tank model kit (RC model).

The faithful model depicts a German heavy tank from World War II. Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger Ausf. B (or Tiger II) is known by the name Königstiger, or King Tiger, given to it by American soldiers. The Tiger II was the successor to the Tiger I tank and weighed around 70 tons. It was protected by armor 100 to 180 mm thick (front platoon). It was armed with an 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 anti-tank gun. It was deployed for the first time during the Allied invasion of Normandy, in the summer of 1944. It used two types of towers, the older type being called the "Porsche" tower. This tower had a typical rounded nose and a protruding commander's turret on the left side (only 50 units were produced). The newer type of turret is designated "Henschel", has a straight front wall and is larger overall, without the protruding commander's turret on the port side. The Tiger II, with its combination of thick armor, a high-powered gun, a high-quality sight high above the ground (the tank was very tall), was deadly to all Allied and Soviet tanks. He was able to accurately hit and destroy the opponent up to a distance of 2 km! The weakness of this otherwise exceptional tank was the low power of its Maybach engine and the frequent failure rate of the complex propulsion system. At the beginning of the combat deployment, more pieces were lost to malfunctions than destroyed in combat. Interestingly, just like the Tiger I, the Tiger II was also equipped with two types of belts. The wider ones were intended for movement on the terrain of the battlefield and the narrower ones for transportation on wagons and for traveling a short distance. Only about 492 units were produced in total.

The kit contains plastic and metal unassembled parts and pre-assembled mechanical parts (quality metal gearboxes with 380 motors, slide mechanism, barrel aiming mechanism, turret rotation mechanism). The entire lower part of the model is metal, including all the main parts of the drive (undercarriage parts, suspension arms, drive and idler wheels,...). Cannons and machine guns are mainly metal. A sheet of self-adhesive Zimmerit sheets is included, so the modeler can choose such an attractive version of the model's surface.
The kit also includes complete electronics, including DMD Control Unit T-03 (integrated two FET speed regulators), multifunctional unit MF-01 (sound and function generator) and a high-quality speaker. Of course, there is a high-quality flash unit for the cannon and an LED for the machine gun.
From our own experience, we can confirm the very realistic behavior of the model, such as sounds, flashes, recoil simulation, driving characteristics.

The Tamiya Battle System 300053447 (6453447) module can be purchased as a separate accessory, which can be used to simulate a battle with several models.

scale: 1/16
length: 640 mm
width: 235 mm
height: 235 mm
weight: 4250 g

Needed to purchase: 4-channel tank/truck type RC kit (both levers centered), drive battery, charger, paints, glue, common modeling tools for assembling the model.

From our own experience, we recommend:
Carson FS 6K Reflex Stick II 2.4GHz Car/Tank/Boat RC Kit 500501006 (6305010.06), which is tuned from the factory just for use in Tamiya tanks.
Set - Charger Carson Delta Peak 2A set 500606031 (6306060,32)
Tamiya glues, paints and sprays.

The model is intended for driving indoors and outdoors on a solid dry surface, under no circumstances can it be driven in water, puddles, mud, sand, tall grass, on public roads and other places (e.g. parking lots) with car traffic . High "hairy" carpets are also unsuitable surfaces. This model is not a toy, requires maintenance and is intended for modelers over 14 years of age.

Our test Pz.Kpfw. VI King Tiger: I have built this successful model twice. The first time I built it for my own pleasure (I've been using it for several years) and the second time I built it for a customer. The kit is just perfect, typical Tamiya. All plastic parts are flawlessly molded, metal parts and fasteners are clearly arranged. The building instructions are educationally thorough and clear. If you don't rush the construction, even a complete beginner can handle it. All parts fit together perfectly and there is no need to deal with any complications. The construction can be done in a single weekend. Since all the necessary electronics are already included in the kit, you only need to purchase an RC kit and a battery (or charger). I have my favorite RC set Carson Reflex Car/Boat (6 channel, simple) transmitter for this tank. Since Carson works with Tamiya, this transmitter is "tuned" to the Tamiya MFU from the factory. So you only need to plug the cables into the receiver according to the instructions, calibrate the system and everything works beautifully right away. Tamiya puts a very powerful sound module and a high-quality speaker in its models. My King Tiger immediately catches the attention of all viewers after starting up. When I turn the volume all the way up, it drowns out everything around it. A shot from a cannon with a booming sound and a slow slide is especially beautiful. The sound of the machine gun is also beautiful. Driving characteristics correspond to reality, it is a slow tank (Tamiya cares about model speed) but with surprisingly good cross-country ability. As this is my oldest Tamiya tank, the belt tensioning mechanism has loosened up a bit over time and now I get one belt loosening up too much when riding off-road for a long time. It has to be re-tensioned and that is a bit annoying. Another "trifle" that bothers me is the closed MFU Tamiya. Everything is already programmed from the factory and it is not possible to change parameters or sounds (as my favorite Elmod Fusion allows). In conclusion, however, I can only recommend this kit. It's just a great product.
