Programmable AC controller for model aircraft. Continuous current 60A (peak 80A), power supply 3-6 LiPo cells, switchable BEC 5.2V, 6V, 7.4V/8A, weight 73g, dimensions 69x35x18mm.
Programmable microprocessor controller for AC motors without sensors ("brushless, sensorless") for recreational and sports aircraft models powered by LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries. It uses advanced optimized control technology significantly improving throttle response and power stage control efficiency. The design of the controller focuses on high long-term load capacity and resistance, which is required in large models with a larger number of servos. The regulators are equipped with a powerful switched BEC power supply stabilizer with selectable output voltage ensuring the power supply of the receiver and servos (normal and HV) from the drive accumulator. A special KAVAN PRO LED programming card is used for easy adjustment of the controller, which is supplied separately.
DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR
The controller is equipped with a high-performance 32-bit ARM M4 microprocessor with a clock frequency of up to 72 MHz; it is compatible with most AC motors.
Suitable for the vast majority of aircraft AC motors powered by 3-6S LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries.
A special power stabilizer for the microprocessor for high resistance to interference and to reduce the risk of loss of control.
Optimized control technology significantly improves throttle response and power stage control efficiency, reduces regulator temperature.
Powerful switching power supply stabilizer BEC with an output voltage adjustable to 5.2, 6.0 or 7.4 V and a load capacity of 8 A continuously and 20 A peak. The BEC is separated from the other circuits of the regulator, it can maintain the correct function even if the power board with MOSFET transistors of the regulator is burnt.
The Normal/Soft/Very Soft launch modes are suitable for normal propeller aircraft as well as blower models.
Simple programming and setting with the help of the transmitter or LED programming card KAVAN PRO.
A special programming cable for connecting the controller to the LED programming card allows the user to program the controller anytime and anywhere (for details, see the instruction manual for the KAVAN PRO LED programming card).
Normal/Proportional/Reverse brake modes (especially the reverse mode) can effectively shorten the range after landing.
A series of protection functions: start-up protection, controller thermal protection, capacitor thermal protection, overload protection, overcurrent protection, abnormal supply voltage protection and control signal loss protection effectively extend the life of the controller.
Throttle range calibration to perfectly match the control signal from your RC rig.
PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS
Brake type: Brake off, normal brake (with braking intensity adjustable in 7 levels), proportional brake (actuated by the throttle controller: 0-20% of the throttle controller deflection corresponds to 100-0% of the brake, 20-100% of the controller deflection corresponds to 0-100 % of gas), reversal (allows you to turn on the reversal of the engine operation using another channel with a switch).
Brake Strength: Braking intensity is adjustable from Level 1 to Level 7 for "Normal Brake" mode.
Motor disconnection method: Soft shutdown: The regulator will gradually reduce power to 50% of full power within 3 seconds after voltage protection is activated. Hard shutdown: The engine is immediately shut down.
Number of LiPo cells: We recommend setting manually for 100% reliable voltage protection function. The controller automatically calculates the number of cells of the connected accumulator according to the "3.7 V per cell" rule, if you choose automatic detection.
Voltage protection: The threshold level of voltage protection is adjustable in the range of 2.8-3.8 V/cell; protection can also be turned off completely.
BEC Voltage: The BEC voltage of the power stabilizer is adjustable to 5.2V, 6.0V or 7.4V.
Start: Normal start (instant start), Soft start (with slow start for engines with large propellers, gearbox or smaller blowers), Very soft start (with very slow start for engines with large propellers, gearbox or blowers from 90 mm).
Timing: Adjustable in the range of 0-30°.
Direction of rotation: Clockwise/Counterclockwise.
DEO freewheel: This function can be turned on or off; it can bring better linearity or smoother throttle response.
PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR
Start-up protection: The regulator measures the engine speed during start-up. If the revolutions stop increasing or their increase is not stable, the controller evaluates this as an incorrect start. If at this moment the throttle is at less than 15%, the controller will automatically try to restart the engine again; if the throttle is more than 15%, you must pull the throttle all the way down to restart the engine again.
Controller Thermal Protection: The motor will "stutter" if the controller temperature exceeds 110°C, indicating that the thermal protection has been activated. If you pull the throttle below 60% at that moment, the "stuttering" will disappear and the throttle will deliver power corresponding to the throttle position. If you move the throttle above 60%, the "stutter" appears again. The temperature of the regulator when switching on must not exceed 70°C, otherwise the engine cannot be started.
Throttle signal loss protection: The controller immediately shuts down the engine if the signal is missing for 0.25s to prevent even more damage and risk from a rapidly rotating rotor or propeller. Once a normal signal is received, the controller resumes normal function.
Overload protection: The controller shuts down the motor or restarts automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value.
Overcurrent protection: The controller immediately shuts down the motor if the peak current draw exceeds the maximum allowed value; then resumes normal function. If after that the current consumption still exceeds the maximum allowed value, the motor is switched off completely.
Tip: When switching on the regulator for the very first time, first calibrate the gas range according to the instructions. Only then is it possible to use the controller and set other parameters with the help of the transmitter or the KAVAN PRO LED programming card.
